Rat & mouse control

Rodent work is exclusion work. Bait alone leaves the entry point open, which means the next rodent walks in through the same gap a week later. A mouse fits through a hole the width of a pencil, and a rat through one the size of a quarter, so the inspection matters more than the product.

How to know that’s what you have

  • Droppings under the sink, along walls, or in the back of a pantry
  • Scratching or scurrying inside walls and ceilings, usually after dark
  • Gnaw marks on food packaging, pipe insulation or wiring
  • A greasy dark smear along a baseboard or pipe — a rub mark on a regular route
  • Burrow holes in the yard, near the foundation or under a deck or shed

What we actually do

  1. 01

    Full exclusion inspection

We map every gap a rodent can use: pipe and utility penetrations, garage thresholds, dryer vents, foundation cracks, gaps under siding and around the roof line.

  2. 02

    Seal the building

Entry points are physically closed with materials rodents cannot chew through. This is the part that makes the result last, and the part most cheap treatments leave out.

  3. 03

    Interior removal

Tamper-resistant stations and trapping placed on the runways we identified. In occupied homes with children or pets, we prioritise placements that are physically inaccessible to them.

  4. 04

    Exterior pressure

Secured exterior stations and burrow treatment where the pressure is coming from the yard, the neighbouring lot or the street line.

Why sealing matters more than baiting

Bait handles the rodents already inside. It does nothing about the opening they used. These are openings we found on real inspections — see the full rodent proofing page for the before-and-after work.

How long it takes

Activity usually drops within the first week. Full exclusion on a detached house is normally completed in one to two visits; a building with an active street-side rat population needs an ongoing exterior programme.

Questions about rats & mice

Can you do this without poison in the house?
Yes. In homes with pets or small children we can run the interior on trapping and exclusion only, and keep any rodenticide in secured exterior stations. Tell us when you book and we will plan it that way.
Something died in my wall. Can you get it out?
Where it is accessible, yes. Where it is not, we can locate it, treat the odour and advise on the smallest possible opening to remove it.
My building has an open HPD violation for rodents. Can you help?
That is a large part of what we do. See our page for property managers and owners — we work the building, document the work, and prepare you for re-inspection.
